Western Imperialism?

IslandsSouth China Sea has become a hot potato ever since China started its reclamation project on the islands whose ownership has been under contention by several nations: Vietnam, Philippines, Malaysia, and China. It had since provided explosive fodder for the political tussles that may turn into an ugly military conflict. Strangely, the conflict is not between China and these contentious nations, but with the USA located some 12,000 km away. Read the rest of this entry »

You

beggarsThe streets are littered with beggars. The sight is not pretty. It is not just Calcutta. There are other slums like the notorious Smokey Mountain in Manila. They are everywhere if you care to look. In the streets of prosperous nations too. Los Angeles – New York, Sydney, London, Paris. You see them there although they may be not as ugly and obvious as in some parts of third world countries. But they are there, sometimes hidden from sight because people have become apathetic and immune to them. At some point in life, you asked and screamed at God at the abject moral travesty of man. Why – God?  Then a voice whispered from the bowels of your deep —- Read the rest of this entry »

Fake News

fakenewsThe latest buzz phrase emanating from Yankee press is “fake news”. Have you ever wondered when you first heard of “fake news”. Indeed, not until recently did this “fake ” craze came into our daily vernacular. So what is so special about fake news? When did news become real or fake? Have you ever wondered?

Who Else is Broke?

rico_3396602bWe heard that Greece is broke. No one wants to utter this taboo word. Greece’s ex-Finance Minsiter Yanis Varoufakis was brave enough to shout to the world that Greece is bankrupt. Brave men never last long in their jobs. Yanis resigned soon after. We also hear Japan, EU (minus Germany), USA and many other first world countries are also broke. They survived for now simply because they just print money that they don’t have. Of course there are better words to use in place of “bankrupt”. QE and Abenomics sound much more sophisticated and professional. Still, a spade is a spade. Read the rest of this entry »

More MH370 Parts?

indexThe jig-saw puzzle suspense continues to build up. Another piece of potential MH370 part suddenly showed up. Unlike the previous 2-meter long debris, which is covered with some barnacles, this one appears different. No trace of prolonged submersion under sea water is evident. It looks more like a rather “brand new” part hastily dumped some 25 km away from where the first part was found(just like the other almost new part that was reported found previously, read “A Boeing 777 Part – So What?“). Now, the mystery deepens. At the rate, is not difficult to speculate that more little parts and puzzles will continue to appear in due time. Read the rest of this entry »

A Boeing 777 Part – So What?

_84565572_8bed3b64-b5c5-44dc-9194-febe1e9b0ca6On 14 March 2014, a Malaysian Boeing 777 went missing during a MH370 flight. Mysteries surrounded that fated disappearance (read “MH370 Once More“). Theories as to why the massive airliner just vanished were abound. None could be nearer the truth. Suffice to say that official speculation was that it went off course to somewhere west of Australia. Australian Prime Ministered vowed that the search will go on until it is found. The search went silent, until yesterday. Perhaps this piece of “evidence” brings closure to this vow that may otherwise be unfulfilled. Read the rest of this entry »

It’s Not Weird Anymore

ScreenShot_20150724110319Just as “Weird Weird Yankees” (read here) was written yesterday, things get even more bizarre. News.com.au reports: A HORNY couple who were photographed having sex in a phone box in the middle of the day say they are not ashamed of their actions.

Amateur middleweight boxer Gavin Wain, 30, and 41-year-old Lisa Kerley, were photographed by a passing motorist, who drove back to take another picture to try and shame them in their sex act in the phone booth in the district of Wilnecote, near Tamworth, Staffordshire, in England, Tamworth Informed first reported. Never Ending Greece

400x225_309590After months of grueling battles between the Troika and Greece, another chapter has come to a close. Alexis Tsipras caved in to the Troika’s demands. Outwardly, the Troika seems triumphant on the back of Merkel’s iron fist. Whether it was Merkel that won the battle or the surreptitious hands of powerful banksters is still a matter of conjecture. The bankers cannot allow Greece to default at this moment as the domino effect on trillions of derivatives will take the whole financial system down. The can has to be dribbled again down the road until the opportune moment. Read the rest of this entry »

Neither He nor She

indexFallen man is no longer perfect. In the midst of these imperfections, mankind struggles to be perfect again. Like a frog in a well, that struggle is futile. The only hope is for someone outside the well to extricate the struggling frog. Unless mankind recognises this fundamental truth, all efforts to strive for a better world will be in vain. At the personal level, that struggle takes different forms. Some are born blind and disabled. Some started life, and ended in ghettos. Some are unsure of their sexuality – he or she? It is not their fault to be in such predicament. But the options are the same. They are in a well, and will remain so else external aid from outside the well is sought. Read the rest of this entry »

Greek Conundrum

6617374-3x2-700x467Greece was once a formidable nation with renown philosophers – the cradle of democracy. Their culture and influence in Europe was widespread. So much so that the post-Christ era was peppered with Greek philosophy that reaches deep into Christian teachings. But powerful nations do not last forever. Greece faded into oblivion. Today, with its economy in tatters and a relatively small population of circa 10 million people, Greeks influence is insignificant. After having been inducted into the Eurozone, it soon becomes a misfit. It can no longer thrive on the largesse of its fellow Eurozone members. Read the rest of this entry »
