Putin; Moscow will respond to NATO

The Western empire had been prodding Russia with a skewer since Putin defused the attempted Syrian  invasion by USA. The Russian rumbled with annoyance after each prick. Subsequently Ukraine became the ultimate kicking ball for the Western powers and Russia. Accusations flung back and forth, culminating with economic sanctions against Russia. Once again, the bear took the bullet, groaning but not yet retaliating. Things might be about to change very soon…

RT NewsMoscow will respond in kind to seizure of its assets abroad

Moscow will take reciprocal action in response to the seizure of its foreign assets, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has warned.

“Our response would be in kind. This is inevitable. This is the only way of acting in international affairs,” he told RBK-TV in an intervew.

Lavrov was commenting on the seizure in Belgium and France of Russian state-owned assets. The arrest were made on request of beneficiaries of the now-defunct oil giant Yukos, who were awarded damages from Russia by an arbitration court in The Hague. Russia is in the process of challenging the ruling.

The minister added that his priority in this situation now is to unfreeze the accounts of the Russian Embassy in Belgium.

The freezing of diplomats’ accounts “absolutely goes against the Vienna accords on foreign relations that guarantee the immunity of diplomatic assets, real estate and corresponding things. Belgian foreign ministry officials are indicating to us that they were not aware of it,” Lavrov said. “We don’t accept these explanations.”

On other fronts,”A top Russian official has told a leading Swedish newspaper that the country would be likely to face military action if it were to join Nato.” – (The Local SE). This in on the back of military tensions getting more intense in Europe, with more reports of military planes confronting each other in flight. The political situation is getting not tenable. Unless something or someone comes to his senses and defuse the military undercurrents, the days are getting nearer for a confrontation to take place. Are we there yet?

While it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation.
