Jibo – Robot becomes Human

indexHere comes Jibo – technology made human. The days are approaching when technology and humanity converges. Robot or human, human or robot? Soon this distinction will be harder to delineate. Man’s love for humanity is diminishing, while our fascination for machines is increasing. Man wants absolute control over things. Unlike humans who have minds of their own, robots, since they are man-made, are seen as the perfect slave that can be controlled. That’s the logic. How wonderful would the world be if we have robotic slaves that are almost human, minus a self-will. But his may be illusionary. In the movie “2001 – A Space Odyssey“, machines became so intelligent that they could become rulers of man, rather than be ruled. Is that day imminent?

The Vigilant Citizen

Praised by CNN and the Wallstreet Journal, Jibo is the world’s first “family robot”. A cheesy, overly sentimental video selling this machine explains exactly how it will spy on your entire family … And it is extremely creepy.

In the cautionary tale that was 1984, telescreens were used by the ruling Party to keep its subjects under constant surveillance, thus eliminating the chance of secret conspiracies against it. Almost 70 years after the release of the novel, telescreens are a reality … and they are going much further than Orwell’s telescreens.

Enter Jibo. Before I go further, I will let you witness its mindbogglingly absurd video selling this product. The first time I watched it, I actually asked myself if it was some kind of spoof or parody. But no. I got confirmation that it was 100% real and that the product is about to ship worldwide. Then a dark, creeping feeling overwhelmed me as I realized the immense potential of this machine. Here’s the ad.”

Is it not coincidental that movies like “Ex Machina,” the film with the highest average gross per screen last weekend, are preparing our minds for the day when robots rule?

Genesis 2:7
And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
