Greece is the Word

_80513018_025586101-2The Greeks voted. What are they saying? Depending on which camp you lean on, the mood and expectations of the Greek election outcome is split in half. On one-side stands the people. This is reflected in The Independent’s headlines: “Voters will choose the Syriza party – and send a defiant message to the EU“. The vote represents the peoples’ hopes and aspirations for change for the better. On the other side stood the grim-faced politicians and financial masters who see the win by the Syriza Party as a challenge to the powers of the EU over Greece. CNBC lamented the outcome with its headlines: “ECB now faces another battle: Dealing with Greece“. Yahoo News agree, declaring the EU’s view that “Greek radical left wins election, threatening market turmoil“.

With the young 40-year old unmarried Alexis Tsipras leading the winning party, the road ahead is certainly uncertain. He has to navigate the labyrinth of the EU powerhouse to please the EU masters and resolve the gigantic debt the Greeks owed. Or he could cut the umbilical cord EU. It is almost impossible for the Greeks to get out of the financial malaise without pain. He has the choice between the devil or the deep blue sea. There is no compromise. Fueled by the euphoria of triumph, Alexis declared to his cheering supporters with optimism, “The verdict of the Greek people ends, beyond any doubt, the vicious circle of austerity in our country,” German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble asked, “Can he deliver?” That’s a fair question. When the dust settles down, Alexis can listen to the lyrics of Grease for some inspiration (aha, Greece is the word, listen to the Grease here)!

I solve my problems and I see the light
We got a lovin’ thing, we gotta feed it right
There ain’t no danger we can go too far
We start believing now that we can be who we are
Grease is the word

They think our love is just a growing pain
Why don’t they understand, it’s just a crying shame
Their lips are lying, only real is real
We stop the fight right now, we got to be what we feel
Grease is the word

It’s got a groove, it’s got a meaning
Grease is the time, is the place, is the motion
Grease is the way we are feeling

We take the pressure and we throw away
Conventionality belongs to yesterday
There is a chance that we can make it so far
We start believing now that we can be who we are
Grease is the word

It’s got a groove, it’s got a meaning
Grease is the time, is the place, is the motion
Now, grease is the way we are feeling

This is a life of illusion
Wrapped up in trouble
Laced with confusion
What are we doing here?

We take the pressure and we throw away
Conventionality belongs to yesterday
There is a chance that we can make it so far
We start believing now that we can be who we are (be who we are)
Grease is the word

Proverbs 19:15
Slothfulness casteth into a deep sleep; and an idle soul shall suffer hunger.
