Babies – To Have or Not To-Have

indexWorldometers.infoAccording to WHO, every year in the world there are an estimated 40-50 million abortions. This corresponds to approximately 125,000 abortions per day.

In the USA, where nearly half of pregnancies are unintended and four in 10 of these are terminated by abortion , there are over 3,000 abortions per day. Twenty-two percent of all pregnancies in the USA (excluding miscarriages) end in abortion.

If abortion is treated as genocide (excluding medical abortions), these murderous numbers are simply horrendous. America takes the top spot of having the most murderers. They have lost all sense of responsibility in not treating a human life with respect and dignity. In their eyes, a foetus is only a mass of cells that may be discarded at will, a sad consequence of living unrestrained sexual lives. Society condones such actions. In fact, shows emanating from the West, in particular Hollywood, promote irresponsible ways of life. It is no wonder America has descended into an abyss of moral decadence.

In China, having more than one child is a state policy. It was normal then that most parents would love to have more children if not for the state sanctioned restraint. But after many years of social conditioning, a one-child mindset has permeated most Chinese. Now that China has started the process of “freedom” and capitalistic pursuits, departing from the Communist past, it is also relenting on the one-child policy.

A year ago, China relaxed its controversial one-child policy, allowing couples to have a second baby if the mother or father was an only child themselves.

It was hailed as a major liberalization of the three-decades old restriction, but new figures suggest that fewer people than expected are taking the plunge and expanding their family.

Work and financial stress have been cited as the main reasons why most couples today shun from having more children. The cost of educating a child in private school in Canberra (Australia) for 14 years is reported by The Sydney Morning Herald to cost more than half a million dollars. The same story is repeated in many other places. Singapore has been “so successful” in this area, so much so that financial incentives have failed to induce couples to have more children. Anyone living in a fast-pace, high stress society will understand the reluctance to have more children.

Catholics on the other hand, are prevented by religious decree that artificial contraception is wrong. Consequently, practising Catholics tend to have more children simply because natural contraception is only possible for the very disciplined couples. In Singapore, you can almost place a bet that the man behind a 7-seater car is a Catholic. The Pope addressed millions of adherents in Philippines with an brow-raising comment: “Good Roman Catholics do not need to breed like ‘rabbits’, but should practice ‘responsible’ parenting instead.” What the Pope is implying is still a subject of conjecture.

Babies are miracles of God’s creation. Anyone who have held a new-born babe born of his flesh and blood witnesses the greatest marvel of creation. From conception, through the kicking of the mother’s womb until birth, it is hard to deny the inexplicable joy of seeing a baby being born. A child reflects the image of the great Creator. How would anyone destroy an innocent baby? Only a sinful man can perform such a diabolical act.

Matthew 19:14
But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.
