After the Babylonian Exile, the Jews were scattered all over the lands in what is now called the Diaspora. That spelled the end of a people group living as a nation. Thoughts of having them coming back again to their ancestral land are inconceivable. During the Nazi holocaust, the Jews again suffered more setbacks as millions were exterminated in atrocious genocide. It could have dealt a final death blow to the Jews as a people group. But events took a miraculous turn. In the 1917 Balfour Declaration, United Kingdom’s Foreign Secretary Arthur James Balfour wrote to the to Zionist Federation of Great Britain and Ireland via Baron Rothschild (Walter Rothschild, 2nd Baron Rothschild), who was a leader of the British Jewish community. That process precipitated the birth of modern Israel in 1948.
Balfour Declaration – “His Majesty’s government view with favour the establishment in Palestine of a national home for the Jewish people, and will use their best endeavours to facilitate the achievement of this object, it being clearly understood that nothing shall be done which may prejudice the civil and religious rights of existing non-Jewish communities in Palestine, or the rights and political status enjoyed by Jews in any other country.”
That declaration and subsequent formation of the state of Israel brought back convergence of Jews into the biblical land that they once possessed. Not only was it a difficult birth, the formative years were peppered with wars, Muslim strife and challenges to statehood. In particular, it incurred the wrath of neighbouring Muslim countries who continued to challenge Israel’s statehood and calls for her destruction.
“Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, stated on Wednesday that the only solution for the region is the destruction of Israel, and that the armed confrontation must expand beyond Gaza.” (The Daily Caller)
Hitherto, Israel has never seen a day of peace. Muslims continue to support the Palestinians to obliterate Israel. After years of “peace” negotiations, the verdict for a successful conclusion is not promising.
Why are Muslims so adamant for the destruction of Israel? Going by the Quran, it is hard to understand why Muslims take such a stand against the Jews. The following are some verses that clearly acknowledge Israel as a biblical people group and has found favour with God. It is indeed quite perplexing watching so much disdain from Muslims and the glaring contradictions of reality vs Quran scriptures.
Surat Al-Baqarah (The Cow) 2:47 and 1:122
O Children of Israel, remember My favor that I have bestowed upon you and that I preferred you over the worlds.
Surat Al-Baqarah (The Cow) 2:40
O Children of Israel, remember My favor which I have bestowed upon you and fulfill My covenant [upon you] that I will fulfill your covenant [from Me], and be afraid of [only] Me.
Surat Al-Mā’idah 5:12
And Allah had already taken a covenant from the Children of Israel, and We delegated from among them twelve leaders. (…)
Surat Al-Mā’idah 5:20
And [mention, O Muhammad], when Moses said to his people, “O my people, remember the favor of Allah upon you when He appointed among you prophets and made you possessors and gave you that which He had not given anyone among the worlds.
Surat Al-‘A`rāf 7:159
And among the people of Moses is a community which guides by truth and by it establishes justice.
Oh that the salvation of Israel were come out of Zion! When God bringeth back the captivity of his people, Jacob shall rejoice, and Israel shall be glad.
