The terror inflicted by ISIS in the region surrounding the Syrian Kurdish city of Kobani has pushed over 200,000 refugees flooding into Turkey in the last few days. “The assault on Kobani is energising Kurds throughout the region with 3,000 fighters from the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) based in Iraq’s Qandil mountains reported to be crossing from Iraq into Syria and heading for Kobani”, according to reports by The Independent. While there is a respite in Ukraine, the theater of warfare once again shifted to the Middle East. Now, USA and several Arab allies started bombing “the militants” in Syria. In effect, it is war against Syria (Respect Syria Sovereignty). Elsewhere around the world, there’s nothing but depressing news! All these happen during a time when the US President was conferred a Nobel Peace prize. How ironic!
Russia has successfully fired Iskander-M missiles during Vostok-2014 maneuvers in the Far East. It was the first launch of its kind for the Eastern Military District. Early on Saturday, the Iskander-M missile brigade was ordered to move to the firing pad in the remote woodlands of the Jewish Autonomous Region. The missile strike eliminated all training targets.

AUSTRALIA has raised its terrorism alert level to high, Tony Abbott has announced, as he warned of “people with the intent and the capability to mount attacks”.The Prime Minister said the government had lifted the public alert level to high, from medium, in line with a recommendation from ASIO. A high-level alert level means authorities consider an attack is likely.

Satellite imagery provided by Airbus Defence and Space illustrates substantial and significant progress in China’s construction of an island on Johnson South Reef in the Spratly Islands. Until early 2014 the only manmade feature at the reef was a small concrete platform that housed a communications facility, garrison building, and pier. This platform has now been surrounded by an island that is approximately 400 m across at its widest points and has an area of about 100,000 m 2 .
The terrorism threat is becoming more and more ominous for Americans: Two of the three victims murdered by ISIS Muslims in the past few weeks have been American. There has been evidence of Muslims crossing into the U.S. illegally from Mexico. And there have been individual instances of Muslims accused of killing Americans in the U.S.
American and Canadian military reported intercepting Russian military aircraft near Alaska and Canada this week. Neither country’s airspace was violated. There were two separate incidents involving Russian military planes near North America. On Wednesday, two Mig-31 fighter jets were spotted in a US air defense identification zone (ADIZ) off the Alaska coast, with the US Air Force scrambling two F-22 jets to intercept them. The US also identified two Tu-95 long-range bombers and two Il-78 refueling tankers nearby. On Thursday, two Russian Tu-95bombers flew into Canada’s ADIZ and were intercepted by two Canadian F-18 jets.
