What a Mess!

poroshenko-putinAfter killing over 2500 Ukrainains by its own people and displacing more than 260,000 people, there was a sigh of relief when Poroshenko announced a permanent ceasefire in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions after talks with Vladimir Putin. The sigh of relief was short-lived. Kiev retracted its earlier statement regarding a “permanent ceasefire” in eastern Ukraine soon after. The new wording from Poroshenko’s office talks of a ceasefire “regime”. Poroshenko doesn’t seem to be in control, he seems to be taking the cue from someone else. This was followed by more confusing mixed messages, Arseny Yatsenyuk, Ukraine’s prime minister, called the plan a “trap” and dismissed the peace plan (The Guardian). Is anyone in Kiev interested to stop the insane killing of innocent people?

The end game appears not to be about Ukraine but a concerted effort to propel the world into a major nuclear conflict. Every speech and news that emanates from the Western-backed NATO is filled with violent innuendos. There’s no hint of compromise to resolve teething issues.

Obama was to meet with Baltic leaders today to offer reassurances to NATO member states near the Russian border.

The visit comes ahead of a high-stakes NATO summit that begins on Thursday in Wales. Obama and Western allies at the summit will approve plans to position at least 4000 troops and military equipment in Eastern Europe.

Ukraine is not a NATO member. But members of the alliance in Eastern and Central Europe fear being targeted by Russia. (Herald Sun)

Lashing out аt Russia, U.S. President Barack Obama οn Wednesday cast Moscow’s aggression іn Ukraine аѕ a threat tο peace іn Europe. Hе vigorously vowed tο come tο thе defence οf NATO allies thаt drеаd thеу mау possibly bе Vladimir Putin’s next target. (US Day Care Jobs)

United States Navy destroyer USS Ross has entered Black Sea, according to the statement in US Navy 6th Fleet official command account on Twitter.

“USS Ross enters Black Sea, promoting peace and stability while working with NATO allies and partners,” the statement says.

According to the official US Navy website, “Ross’ presence in the Black Sea serves to demonstrate the United States’ commitment to strengthening the collective security of NATO allies and partners in the region.”

“The US Navy maintains an enduring commitment to forward-presence throughout the region in order to have ready-forces available if a crisis were to occur,” the statement reads. (Rianovosti)

In retaliation to these NATO advances, Russia is making a next strategic move.

A Russian general has called for Russia to revamp its military doctrine, last updated in 2010, to clearly identify the U.S. and its NATO allies as Moscow’s enemy number one and spell out the conditions under which Russia would launch a preemptive nuclear strike against the 28-member military alliance, Interfax reported Wednesday.

Russia’s military doctrine, a strategy document through which the government interprets military threats and crafts possible responses, is being revised in light of threats connected to the Arab Spring, the Syrian civil war and the conflict in Ukraine, the deputy chief of the Kremlin’s security council told RIA Novosti on Tuesday. To aggravate the already fragile situation, Poroshenko caught NATO officials off-guard at the summit meeting at Newport with the disclosure that, while Nato was not arming Ukraine, at least one country, which he did not name, was providing Kiev with high-precision weapons. Then more confusing messages continue to spill out from Poroshenko and NATO. Reuters reported that ” A senior aide to Ukraine’s President Petro Poroshenko said on Sunday that Kiev had agreed at the NATO summit in Wales on the provision of weapons and military advisers from five NATO member states, but four of the five swiftly denied any such deal had been reached.”

What a mess! Can anyone speak some truth? Will all these high level sing-along summits make the world any safer? The underlying tone is an absolute quagmire, and simply nefarious.

All the men of thy confederacy have brought thee even to the border: the men that were at peace with thee have deceived thee, and prevailed against thee; they that eat thy bread have laid a wound under thee: there is none understanding in him.
