What Next? Mr President

The war of words between President Putin and Obama is getting tense. Two super powers are at war. Each sentence and word that is being uttered has to be sieved and closely studied. Contained therein is a fuse that could detonate WW3. It pays for the world to listen. Obama has been on the world stage for only a mere decade. His compatriot Putin, has a colorful tapestry of key political appointments throughout his career. Putin has a nine-year seniority advantage over the younger Obama. As early as 1975, Putin already had the first opportunity of getting into real politics in the secretive KGB, while Obama was still in high school in Honolulu. Between them is a chasm of age, experience and exposures to ideology and education. Putin’s ancestry is described as a mystery. He seemed to be a man with no past, inspired with the symbol of the new epoch, but deprived of historic roots. Obama has an equally enigmatic past, shrouded in controversies. Hitherto, his place of birth is still be a hot topic of debates and legal challenges. The unnatural death of Loretta Fuddy, the health director who approved the release of President Obama’s birth certificate, added fuel to proponents of Obama’s fraudulent birth certificate. Speculation that he is a CIA Manchurian Candidate is also rife. Both presidents do share a common past – mystery. Read the rest of this entry »

Ukrainian’s Heel

In the 2012 UN’s GDP estimates, Ukraine’s economy was ranked 52th in the world, with the total nominal GDP of USD$188 billion, and nominal per capita GDP of USD$3,900 . Ukraine was until recently, part of the USSR. With more than 60% of her 45 million Ukrainians speaking Russian, it still has strong symbiotic links with Russia. How did Ukraine get into this recent conflict involving her neighbours Russia, EU and ironically, USA, from across the globe? Does Ukraine have rich gold, oil or gas deposits that global hegemonic powers find hard to resist and are salivating over? Perhaps, perhaps not. Read the rest of this entry »

Fukushima Diplomacy – Singapore Style

Last week, the world turned its attention to Ukraine. Malaysian flight MH17 was shot down over war-torn Ukraine. Perhaps many people have forgotten that Ukraine also the took center stage on world news almost three decades ago. On Saturday, 26 April 1986, disaster struck at reactor number four of the Chernobyl plant in Ukraine. Just like last week’s event, the world was shocked when the nuclear meltdown took down the nuclear plant. The mishap caused a large 30 km off-limits cordon around the area. Besides uprooting more than 350,000 residents, the enormous cost to the tune of USD$18 billion was incurred for containment and decontamination purposes. The economic costs and the impact on health have not been fully evaluated. Nuclear accidents are not new. The world’s first nuclear power plant was commissioned on June 27, 1954 in Obninsk. Before Chernobyl, the first serious nuclear plant accident occurred at Three Mile Island in 1979. Fukushima became the next victim. In 2011, a huge earthquake induced a tsunami that took down three nuclear plants at Fukushima-Daiichi. Read the rest of this entry »

The Phoenix Gold Coin

Is money a measure of wealth? If so, having a lot of money means having great wealth. Without getting pedantic, wealth and money is almost synonymous in our modern-day context. We subconsciously associate wealth with money and vice versa. Most people do not consciously question what exactly money is. We don’t even look at money as a bag of coins or a stack of notes. As a matter of fact, a person may feel rich even if he has not a dime in his pocket. But he thinks he is wealthy only because he has lodged a number with many zeros with a banking institution and with whom he entrusts. The money that he has is only there because a computer stores a number in a presumably secure manner and that it cannot be manipulated without his consent. He believes that the number will only be allowed to be changed and manipulated via a system of plastic cards or digital entries when he approves the change in transactions. That “money” he thinks he has exists only in a virtual world. He cannot touch it nor feel it. It is completely in someone else control. Read the rest of this entry »

Weekend Shock: Most Expensive Cars

carprices1

Most expensive cars in the world! Do you know that…..

This humble Honda Civic costs USD$102,000 in Singapore, more than 5 times what it would cost in USA or Australia. Moreover, all cars are licensed for use for 10 years only, after which they must be scrapped and taken off the road. Singapore holds many world records. This one for cars will never be broken.

Sneeze of Death

Yumen, a city in northern China was shuttered last week after a man died of bubonic plague. About 151 people with direct contact with the deceased were quarantined. Fortunately there have been no signs so far of the infection spreading. As a precautionary measure, the 30,000 residents have reportedly been barred from leaving the city while local police are also blocking people from entering the city. The plague is a bacterial infection, which spreads largely through fleas living on wild rodents. If diagnosed early, bubonic plague can be successfully treated with antibiotics. Pneumonic plague, on the other hand, is one of the most deadly infectious diseases; patients can die 24 hours after infection. The mortality rate depends on how soon treatment is started, but is always very high (World Health Organization).  Read the rest of this entry »

One Pope, One Religion, One World

A new trilogy is emerging – one pope, one religion, one government. Ever since George Bush senior started to chant the “new world order” (NWO) mantra, the chants had been getting ever louder. NWO is nothing new. It is displayed prominently in Latin “Norvos Ordo Seclorum” on the US dollar bill (the greenback). There’s no secrecy, no attempt to hide, NWO had been staring at people all over the world since the bill was printed in 1863. The greenback had been the de facto currency of the world. Virtually no country can do international trade without it. The irony is that NWO is so blatantly displayed, yet so secret and hidden from eyes that see but do not perceive. It is so conspicuous, yet so subtle – absolutely amazing. For decades, NWO has been mocking at the world all along. Is it a coincidence that mockingbirds belong to a group of New World passerine birds from the Mimidae family (Wikipedia). Birds from a New World!  Read the rest of this entry »

Gaza Conundrum

Three Israeli boys were kidnapped, then murdered. The bodies were found on 30 June 2014. Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) adopted a “no stone unturned” attitude to pursue the perpetrators of the cold blooded murder with its Operation Brother’s Keeper. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was adamant that Hamas killed the teenagers. Tempers flared – vengeance! In a tit for tat consequence, a Palestinian teenager was abducted from East Jerusalem and murdered. As the cries for blood grew louder on both sides, rockets started raining down on Israeli soil from Gaza while IDF pounded targeted Gaza rocket launching sites. A week later on 8 July 2014, IDF launched Operation Protective EdgeRead the rest of this entry »

MH17 & Ukraine

Today’s news highlight Ukrainian rebels handing over MH17 black boxes to the Malaysian authorities. After days of bitter mass media onslaught on Putin by the rest of the world, one crucial episode of this tragic event appeared to come to a close. But really, what can a black box tell? Are we being fooled by these media commotion and psy-ops just because a box was found? Will truth be ever revealed in this incident? Events in the aftermath of 911 only confirm that no truth is likely to emerge. But that was 911, will MH17 be any different?

The 911 incident involved the USA and some purportedly rouge people identified as Al Qaeda and led by an obscure Osama Bin Laden. This little group never made it to the news until the USA decided to make a spectacle of it. Whoever Al Qaeda is, it is no match for the US military might and propaganda machinery. When the US decided to demonise Al Qaeda after 911 and summarily decided that it is the mastermind of the event, it was fait accompli. In this MH17 case, the US is not dealing with an unknown group but against another super nuclear power. A giant bear is awakened. With each prodding, it groaned and stirred, not yet springing into rage. What are the chances that the bear will continue to acquiesce to scurrilous accusations and let matter rest?
